Why small weddings?

Updated: Oct 7, 2024

Who doesn't love a big wedding with all the trimmings, the dream dress, a dozen bridesmaids

the horse drawn carriage, 200 plus guests and a location straight from a movie?

I have to be honest, I didn't. There might be a million and one reasons why you don't want that. It could be that your budget won't stretch that far, or that your family don't live within travelling distance. Maybe you've done it before and don't want a fuss. Or, like I was, you're saving the money to put into your future home. It doesn't matter why really.

I've photographed a large number of weddings over the last few years, and the ones with the most emotion were the simple, intimate affairs, with the couple surrounded by close family, and their very closest friends.

This is why I've chosen to only photograph small weddings, where my documentary style of photography comes into its own. I pride myself on being quiet, unobtrusive and (quite stealthy at times!) so that you can focus on enjoying your ceremony, while insuring you still have photographs of the important moments, and beautiful couples portraits that will last beyond a lifetime. less guests mean that I focus on getting great shots, instead of herding guests into group photos. I can offer a bespoke service for which you will only paying for the hours you need, and not for a whole day's coverage if that's not something that you really want. I can appreciate that not everyone wants photos of themselves getting dressed, so I can be ready and waiting when you arrive at your wedding venue, and subject to permission from whoever is officiating, I will quietly shoot the moments where you become a married couple. if you're planning a register office wedding, a forest ceremony or blessing out in the countryside, and if wedding coverage by the hour is what you're looking for, drop me a message. I'd love to chat to you.
